The enthusiastic officers and members of RC Davao 2000 led by Pres. Dave Uy, braved the 30 minute boat ride to the Vanishing Island in Barangay Tambo, Island Garden City of Samal to launch its “Mangrove Rehabilitation Project.” Around 120 mangrove seedlings were planted on July 27, 2007 assisted by the People’s Organization in Barangay Tambo. The club will plant one hectare mangrove “Bakauan and Pagatpat” seedlings to rehabilitate a vanishing island which is a very good potential for an eco tourism and learning destination in the future. The project supports the mangrove rehabilitation drive of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the Ecosystems Research and Development Service in Region Xl who has undertaken rehabilitation activity in the vanishing island.
